The short version
- Build anything fun. Cartoon action is fine. No gore, hate, bullying, or anything you wouldn't show a parent.
- Keep real people out. No real names, schools, addresses or photos of anyone in your games, and no making fun of real people.
- The Showroom is public. Anything you publish can be played and remixed by anyone. Only publish what you're happy to share.
- Be kind in Backwater. The signals are for fishing, not for ganging up on anyone.
- A grown-up is the boss of your account settings, including the age setting and premium codes.
Who runs this
MacT Factory is run by ROSE Corp, Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Questions: legal@roseglass.dev. How we handle information is on the privacy page, which is part of these terms.
Who can use it
MacT Factory is made for ages 10 and up, with a 10–12 mode and a 13-and-up mode. If you're under 13, a parent or guardian should know you're using it and read these terms with you. Kids under 10 are pointed to Maple's World instead. By using the site, you (or your parent or guardian, for you) agree to these terms.
What you can build and publish
The foreman and the line are AI. They are told to keep games suitable for kids, and we filter personal details out of what you type, but AI can still make mistakes, so look at what comes off the line before you share it. Don't build or publish games that:
- show gore, sexual content, hate, or real-world weapons aimed at people;
- name, picture or make fun of a real person, or include anyone's personal details;
- copy someone else's characters, logos, music or art;
- try to break out of the game frame, collect information, or cause trouble on other people's devices.
We can hide or remove any published game, without notice, if we think it breaks these rules or isn't right for kids. If you see something wrong in the Showroom, email us its link.
Who owns your game
The ideas are yours. The code is written by AI from your order and then edited by you; as far as anyone can own it, it's yours to keep, change and copy. When you publish a game, you give everyone the right to play it in the Showroom and on its share page, and to remix it on the factory floor. A remix is a new game that starts from yours. You also let us show it, copy it to run it, and use it to show off what the factory can do. Unpublishing takes it off the wall, but remixes someone already made stay theirs. We don't add your name to anything, so publishing doesn't make you findable.
MacT Factory itself (the site, the engine, the foreman, the look) belongs to ROSE Corp. The game engine underneath, pip-engine, is open source.
Backwater
Backwater is played with others at the same time. You show up with a made-up name, and the only way to talk is eight ready-made signals. Its money, gear, fish, prizes and derby winnings are pretend: they have no real value and can't be bought, sold or cashed out. Saves live on your device, so clearing your browser clears your save.
Premium (the Argon line)
The Argon line only remixes a game that already exists: build on the standard line first, then switch Argon on to rebuild it bigger and more detailed. For now it is free: every player gets one Argon pass, and publishing an Argon game to the showroom earns one more (once per game). We may change or end free passes. Some builds use a premium AI line unlocked by a code. Codes are for the person or family they were given to: don't share or sell them. We may limit how much a code builds in a day to keep the line running for everyone. The Argon line is sold as a $9.99 a month subscription through FastSpring, which is the seller of record and handles the payment, receipts, tax, cancelling and refunds under its own terms, shown in the checkout. A grown-up has to do the paying. Cancel any time from the link in the FastSpring receipt email; the line stays on until the end of the month already paid for. If a payment is refunded, its code stops working.
Fair use
Building costs us real money, so each visitor gets a daily allowance and the whole factory has a daily limit. Don't use scripts or tricks to get around them, overload the site, or poke at other people's games.
No promises we can't keep
MacT Factory is offered as it is. The line sometimes builds something broken, the site may be down, and features may change or go away. Your games live on your device, so they can be lost if the browser's storage is cleared. To the extent the law allows, ROSE Corp isn't responsible for losses from using the site, and our total responsibility is limited to what you paid us for it in the last twelve months (for most people, nothing).
Changes
We'll update this page and its date before any change takes effect. If a change matters, we'll say so on the floor.
