The short version
- No accounts. We never ask for your name, email, school, town, birthday or a photo. We ask one thing: whether you are 10 to 12 or 13 and up, and that answer stays on your device.
- Your games stay on your device, in this browser. We keep a copy only if you press Publish, and then only the game goes up: its name, icon, how-to-play line and code. Nothing says who made it.
- What you type or say to the foreman goes to an AI company so it can answer and write your game. We don't save it, and a filter takes out names, places, schools, ages, emails and phone numbers first (you'll see a ๐ note when it does). Still, keep those out of your games.
- In Backwater, other players can see you when you're at the same water: a made-up name like "Hasty Marmot", your colour, where you stand on the bank, your casts and your catches. There is no chat. The only things you can say are eight ready-made signals, like "Nice fish!".
- No ads, no trackers, no cookies, no analytics. Nothing is sold, ever.
Who we are
MacT Factory is run by ROSE Corp, a small company in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. It is the sibling of Maple's World (maplesworld.org), which we also run. Questions, or anything you want removed: legal@roseglass.dev.
On your device
Your device keeps these in the browser's own storage (localStorage). They never leave the device unless a line below says so. Clearing this site's data in your browser wipes them.
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your games and parts bin | So your builds are there next time. Up to 12 games and 30 parts. |
| Age group | 10 to 12 or 13 and up. It changes how the foreman talks and what the line builds. |
| Best scores | Shown on the test rig and in the Showroom. |
| Publish keys | A long random key for each game you published, so only this device can update or remove it. |
| Premium code | Only if a grown-up entered one for the Argon line. It is sent with Argon builds so the server knows the build is paid for. |
| Backwater save | Your cash, gear, fish and records, plus a random angler number and your made-up name and colour (below). |
What goes to our server, and where it goes next
Talking to the foreman and building
When you send the foreman a message, it goes through our server to Anthropic (the company that makes Claude), which writes the reply and then the game. Builds on the premium Argon line go to Google (Gemini) instead. They are processed under each company's API terms, which say they don't train their models on what's sent. We don't store your messages or build orders. They pass through and are gone.
Personal details are taken out before any AI sees them. Before anything you type goes to Anthropic or Google, our server runs it through a filter written in code (not an instruction to the AI, which could be ignored). It removes names after phrases like "my name is", where you live, your school, your age, emails, phone numbers, street addresses, birthdays and usernames, and puts a marker like [NAME] in their place. The floor shows you a ๐ note saying what was kept private. Our logs record only which kinds of detail were removed, never the words. No filter catches everything, so the rule up top still matters: keep real names and places out of your games.
The microphone
The mic records only after you tap Mic, and stops when you pause, tap it again, or after twenty seconds. In a spoken conversation it starts again after the foreman answers; tap it to stop. The recording goes through our server to be turned into text: by Modulate, which also bleeps out names, places and numbers as it listens, or by ElevenLabs when Modulate is unavailable. Either way the text then goes through the same filter as typing, and lands in the box for you to check before anything is sent. We never keep the recording. If you'd rather not send your voice anywhere, type instead: everything works the same.
When a game crashes
If a build fails or a game crashes, the floor sends us a fault report so we can fix the line: the error message, the game's code, and the browser type (for example "Safari on iPhone"). Our hosting company keeps these logs for up to a week. Some fixes become lessons in the factory's shop log, kept with HydraDB, a memory service. A lesson holds only the error message and the code lines that fixed it, with any quoted words removed from both. Never what you typed, never a game name, and nothing from a game you edited by hand.
Fair-use counter
To keep the factory free and stop one visitor using all of it, the server counts how much building each visitor does in a day. It doesn't store your internet address. It stores a scrambled version made with a secret key, next to a number, and clears it out after a couple of days.
Publishing to the Showroom
Publishing puts the game's name, icon, how-to-play line, code, age group and the time on our database, and anyone can play it in the Showroom or from its share link (mactfactory.com/g/โฆ). We also keep a scrambled copy of the publish key, so we can check it is you when you update or remove the game. No name, account or device information goes with it. To remove a game, press Unpublish on the device that published it, or email us the link.
Backwater: playing with others
Backwater is multiplayer. When you're at a water, the game connects to our server (Supabase Realtime) so you can see the other anglers there, and they can see you.
| Others see | Details |
|---|---|
| A made-up name and colour | Picked at random from word lists ("Quiet Otter", "Lucky Heron"). Reroll it any time in town. You can't type a name. |
| Where you are | Which water and spot, where you stand on the bank, and whether you're casting, reeling or fighting a fish. Only while you're there. |
| Casts and catches | Your line going out, "FISH ON", and what you landed and its weight. Big catches show in the town feed for everyone online. |
| Signals | Eight ready-made lines: ๐ Hey, Nice fish!, Over here, Fish on!, Good luck, Blitz!, Big one!, Heading out. There is no chat and no way to send typed words. Every message is checked against the lists before it is shown, and anything else is dropped. |
None of that is saved, with one exception. If you enter a live derby, our database keeps your random angler number, your made-up name and colour, and your biggest fish for that derby, so the leaderboard works and prizes can be paid. Derby entries are deleted after seven days. The money in Backwater is game money; it is never real money.
Things we don't do
- No cookies, ads, analytics, tracking pixels or social media buttons.
- No outside fonts or scripts: every file these pages load comes from mactfactory.com, apart from the connection to our own server. Two exceptions: opening a Maple's World game in the Showroom loads it from maplesworld.org (also ours), and when a grown-up taps to buy the Argon line, FastSpring's checkout loads from fastspring.com.
- No selling or renting of anything, to anyone.
- No contact between players beyond the made-up names and fixed signals in Backwater.
- Games built on the floor run sealed off from the internet. They can't send anything anywhere.
Companies that help run this
Vercel serves the pages. Like any web host, it sees your internet address when your browser asks for a page. Supabase runs our server, database and multiplayer. Anthropic and Google write games. Modulate and ElevenLabs turn speech into text, and ElevenLabs reads the foreman's answers aloud (only his words, never yours). HydraDB keeps the shop log. FastSpring sells the Argon line (see below). Each one only gets what is described above.
Free Argon passes
For now the Argon line is free: each player gets one pass, and publishing an Argon game earns another. To count passes we keep a scrambled (hashed) form of the k-ID session number, how many passes it has, and a random ticket for each game it used one on. No name, no email, nothing about the game itself.
Paying for the Argon line
The Argon line is a monthly subscription a grown-up buys. For a younger player, k-ID asks a grown-up before the checkout will even open. The checkout is FastSpring's, not ours: FastSpring is the seller of record, so the name, email, card and billing address are typed into FastSpring and kept by FastSpring under its privacy policy, for receipts, tax and cancelling. We never see the card. What we keep is FastSpring's order and subscription numbers, whether the subscription is still running, and the Argon code we made for that order. The code is stored on this device so the line stays on, and shown once so a grown-up can use it on another device.
Kids and parents
MacT Factory is made for ages 10 and up. Kids under 10 are pointed to Maple's World, which has a maker built for them. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children: there are no accounts or profiles, and nothing on this list says who anyone is.
With no accounts, we can't look up "your child's data" by name, because nothing we keep is tied to a name. What we can do:
- Remove a published game. Send us its link.
- Remove a derby entry before its seven days are up. Send us the angler name and roughly when.
- Wipe everything on the device. Clear this site's data in the browser settings.
- Answer any question about this page: legal@roseglass.dev.
If something here changes, we'll update this page and its date before the change goes live.
